Galdor's Hold" is a build constructed between December 14th and January 23rd for the Multiplay Creative Christmas Competition. It was a labor of love of ours for over a month, and we had to build it completely by hand, an very painful but rewarding effort.
A huge thanks to the Mithrintia team, composing of _Toby_, ThunderTrooper, stustu2421, iRapp, Shogan, and Jistic. A very special thanks goes to _Toby_ for his hours upon hours of work upon this creation, and a large portion of the credit should immediately go to him due to his dedication to this project.
Another big thanks should go to Block_Fortress for his help in this project.
The Story of Galdor's Hold
After the conclusion of the Battle of the Gardens, the peaceful people of Mithrintia returned to their damaged homes. Those who wanted to leave the gods and Gardens behind spread out, forming their own nations and creating their new governments according to their own will. In this massive exodus, many of the gods moved away into seclusion. Among these gods was one of the firstborn, Galdor. After having Bethala sacrifice herself for him, he fell into a depressed state and wanted nothing but quiet.
However, his journey into seclusion did not go as he planned. As he traveled away, he stumbled upon something. A single, massive dragon egg in a deep cavern he had taken shelter in. As he knew no dragons to lay eggs of that size, he was intrigued by the sight. As he approached it, he felt the air around him become suddenly stiff and dry. When he touched it, he was shot back, slamming into the wall of the cavern. He then realized that this was no normal dragon egg, but an egg planted by the evil god Shalaron. Unaware of her intentions but knowing it could be nothing but evil, he immediately retreated to the Gardens and informed Feninthra of his discovery.
With Feninthra aware of what had happened, Galdor quickly moved for the lands west of the Gardens of Life; the lands that had been forsaken. These lands were covered in lava, volcanoes, and unfit terrain. Here, he began his greatest achievement; he constructed a monument with a single purpose; to protect the egg of Shalaron. A colossal central fortress surrounded by spiked towers, the construction was near impossible to break in. Large grips held the captured egg in place far above the lava in the central fortress. When construction was complete, Galdor focused his energy into a single blast, which he used to blow a hole in the ground below the egg, opening up a portal into the void, where the egg would fall in case of emergency, causing it to be lost for centuries. But in the case of it falling, it would soon return to the world of the mortals, where it could once again be found by Shalaron, no doubt resulting in chaos and the second war of the gods.
